Happy New Year – eventually

Better late than never but Happy New Year! Are the resolutions still intact? Mine aren’t doing particularly well; I haven’t started my fitness campaign, I am not eating healthily and I still seem to be addicted to getting on my computer until late in the evening/early morning!

Unfortunately I managed to log myself out of my blog and have only just managed to get back in!  Not sure what I did but hopefully I won’t do it again.

Anyhow, after a lovely relaxing weekend, back to work tomorrow.  Recruitment is always slow in January but it just means that we need to get on the phones and let our clients know what fabulous candidates we have on our books who are ready and eager to start work immediately.

Signing off for Christmas

I went to the pantomime today at the Theatre Royal to see Sleeping Beauty.  As always, with Danny Adams and Clive Webb at the helm, it was fantastic.  I went with my Mum and 2 children and we all loved it – a great start to the festive season.

Whilst there, KCR got a job offer for one of our candidates.  She is a great candidate and will do really well at the company so it is a great end to the year.

I have just tied up all the loose ends for work and am pleased to say that I am now on holiday although the KCR office is open tomorrow.

So I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas and wish you all the best for 2012 x

Ready for the Christmas break

Well, here I am at 1am writing the blog, eager to get everything sorted and cleared for the Christmas break.  I am ready for some time off, as are all the team at KCR Solutions.  I am sure most people are.  This hasn’t been the easiest year for recruitment or for many businesses but we’ve got to the end of it and we’re all ready for a break.

Fingers crossed that when everyone gets a chance to relax and recuperate over Christmas, they then come back to work with a renewed enthusiasm and we can get the country back on its feet!  Over the last year when the market has been quieter, what has been clear is what a wealth of fabulous candidates there are, many of whom are immediately available for work.

So all we really need is a little bit of market confidence to encourage more companies to recruit so that we can get the recruitment wheel working fully and place some of the many great candidates who will in turn do a brilliant job in their new roles.

I’m watching ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ as I write – I love it and it’s inspirational.  Let’s all enjoy the break and give ourselves the time to relax before tackling 2012!

New Year Resolutions

Well, as we get to near Christmas, I always think of new year resolutions and what they should be for next year and as always, on top of the list will be getting fit and stop eating ridiculous amounts of sweets, cakes and biscuits!!  Always near the top too, will be ‘to get organised, work more productively and stop having to get my computer out in the evening’.

There is a great article on linked in called ’7 Things Highly Productive People Do’, this has to be on my wall for next year.  I’ve attached the link which is definitely worth reading but in a nutshell, it says the following:

Break down tasks into small chunks – it makes things far more manageable

Stop multi tasking and concentrate on one thing at a time

Eliminate distractions.  I get far too distracted by emails!!

Schedule times throughout the day to look at your emails

Use the phone rather than playing email tag

Set your own agenda and plan your own day

Work in 60-90 minute slots then take a small break – it will mean that you are more productive!!

Recruitment, recruitment

Sometimes I worry that we are talking ourselves into a deeper recession than there appears to be so it was good to hear on the news yesterday that employers in the North East are the most positive about employments prospects.

We have interviews going on for a whole range of jobs, from HR Managers to Credit Controllers, from Sales Administrators to Accountants.  All good news – it would be great to place some candidates for January starts and have a healthy desk to come back to.

I love recruitment and have been in it for over 15 years now but it is so much tougher when the market is flat.   There aren’t as many sole agency agreements so we’re all fighting to fill the sames jobs.  However, as my Dad always says, what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.

And on the positive side, there are masses of fabulous candidates around!!  So if you need anyone, give us a call on 0191 2304600

Last minute Christmas rush

My gorgeous Mum helped me out last night - we wrapped most of my Christmas presents, which will save the usual last minute stress and rush.  I am not normally this organised and still have some presents to buy but at least that is one thing to tick of the rapidly expanding list!!

How come every year the present pile seems to get smaller though – and I am talking about the one for the children rather than for me.  Don’t you remember that feeling?!!  I am having to stop myself go out and buy a whole load of toys/rubbish that they don’t really need, just so the pile is bigger.

We’re also gearing for the last minute rush on interviews – we have quite a few roles where clients are ‘pondering their requirements’ and as usual, I am sure that we will be getting a few calls for interviews the week before Christmas.  Obviously we’re always happy to arrange interviews but I hope the calls come in that little bit sooner this year so that clients don’t put themselves under the stress and pressure of the last minute Christmas rush!!
